Sixth Grade Book Recommendations

I loved hearing everyone's thoughts on summer reading today! Here is a list of some of your favorites that you mentioned to Mrs. Flannery. Feel free to add to the list by posting a comment.   1. one of the summer reading books that I read was Hatchet. The book was about a kid whose parents were getting divorced and he got in a plane crash.

  2. I really liked a book called Number the Stars, it was about the holocaust,so if you like sad books that always keep you on your toes then this is the book for you!!!

    One book I read over the summer was The Secret of Mermaid Island. It was very action packed and adventurous. The author of this book is Judith Wade. The genre is realistic fiction. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it!!!!!

  4. One of the books I read over the summer is "Where the Red Fern Grows." It is anawesome adventure story. It is by Wilson Rawls. I highly recomend this book.

  5. Jocelyn I love that book it was one of my favorites last year. My favorite part was when they were at ''the funeral'' for ''Great Aunt Bessie'' was it? Anyway great choice!!!!!

    I love the book called Palace of Mirrors it was one of the books I read over the summer! if you like a book with an exciting start, a mysterious middle, and an enchanting ending then this is the perfect book for you! The author is Margaret Peterson Haddix, and the genre is fantasy. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone ( mostly girls)

  7. One book I read this summer was Sarah Plane and Tall. This book is about kids who lost their mother at a young age. Their dad wrote in the newspaper for a mom to help out around the house and the farm. This book takes place in the past and on a farm.

  9. One book I read over the summer was the nonfiction book The Boston Molasses Flood. It was great book but it was also sad because of the innocent people dying.

  10. The book I read is racing in the rain it is about a dog who is in the story but he is narrating it. The dog Enzo went threw many bad and good thing with his owner until lone very bad thing happened, the owners wife slipped and cracked her head so she went to the hospital. After that happened many worse things happened. If I were to tell you more I would wreck the story for you hope you read it.

  11. One of my favorite books was Hunger Games it had action and it was really intense it would be a great book if you like action. There in a big arena and there fighting for there lives.

  12. The book i read was 'the totally true story of a part time indian' the book was about a kid in a poor indian reservation. and he struggles with many problems throughout the story. And the kids best friend is hid dog who..... never mind you need to read the story to figure out what happens next.

  13. i loved the book the fault in our stars. it is very sad and i love to watch the movie and read the book over and over again. the fault in our stars is about a girl named Hazel Grace Lanechaster that falls in love with a boy named Augustus Waters.The sad part about the story is that they both have cancer.They both meet by bumping into each other at the support group. I loved this story so much! This is a book i recomend.

  14. Over the summer, I read a book called,"Tree of Life." To be honest, it was one of the best books I have ever read. This book is fantasy because it is about a magical twig that can do something really special... you will only find out what it can do if you read the book... So GET READING! You will be happy you did...

  15. The book I read over the summer is called "Stargirl." I loved it! It was a mystery about this girl named Stargirl coming to a high school acting a little weird. A girl and a boy in that same school try to figure out if she was a fake student for school spirit or if she is a real student. It was a great book that got me hooked in to keep reading. It is by Jerri Spinelli if you are interested. I love and you might to!

  17. I read a great book this summer its called "Gamechangers". This story is about a boy named Ben who plays football. he wants to play quarterback but there's one problem the coach's son Shawn his dad was a processional quarterback. So, he thinks this kid might be hard to beat out.The author of this book is Mike Lupica and the genre is realistic fiction. So will Ben play quarterback. Read the book to find out.

The book I read is "Fart Powder". i know what you might be thinking but it was actually a really good book. if you like adventure and a little of comedy, then this is your book. this book is about a boy who finds this scientist who tries to make this invention called fart powder but a couple things go wrong.

  19. One of the books that I read over the summer was "Hatchet". The book is realistic fiction and it is about a boy who was on a small plane when the pilot had a heart attack. He had to fly the plane until it ran out of gas inside the woods over the border in Canada. On top of that, all the boy had to survive was a Hatchet. Do you think he will survive?

  21. The book I recommend is ''Stealing Home The Story of Jackie Robinson''. This book was about back then the whites hated the blacks and the blacks hated the whites. Even though the white baseball players didn't want to play with the blacks Jackie Robinson stood up for the blacks and became a amazing baseball player. I totally recommend this book for sports lovers.

  22. one book i have read is'' Percey Jackson the Lighting Thief.'' It is about a 12 year old boy that is half-blooded but didn't know.I think this book is fiction.People that like adventures book this is the one for you

  23. A series I wan't to recommend is a series called The Warriors. The genre of this book is fantasy, it has mystery, adventure, and action. This series is about a tabby cat named Rusty, he lives in a house with his owner. When he wanders into the woods, he finds out there is a whole other life as a clan cat.
