The community made it so that a kid wouldn't know his birthmother and would be sent to another family so the birthmother couldn't love their kid. They also keep parents away from their children when they grow up. I think the Elders consider love dangerous because when u love somebody u will do anything for them. They could think it would cause problems in the community like people taking a day off from work. Which may also explain why holidays like Christmas are gone.-Andrew
I agree with Andrew. Loving someone is like giving up your life for them, and that could definitely cause problems. But people would still do lots of extreme things for others but love may have been just too strong of a word for them -Hayden
Like we talked about in class, I think the pills have something to do with the elimination of love along with other feelings. When Jonas had his first "stirring" his mother gave him the pills to take right away. Once you start to develop that feeling you have to take the pills. Because Jonas stopped taking the pills, I think that he will start to really feel love. I also think it's partly because people don't really have a chance to see the ones they would love. Birthmothers don't get to keep there children, and parents are separated from there kids once they grow up. Kids don't know what grandparents are and they don't get to attend there releasing ceremonies??!! ~Caroline
