Sameness
So The Giver reveals to Jonas that long ago, when things like weather and hills made life impractical, there was a switch to Sameness. Based on what we know about the Community so far and comparing that to our society, how has that impacted life for humans? Has their life experience been affected? Are they missing out? Is it unfair that only one person gets to hold onto all the memories and history of their people? Be clear when explaining your thinking.

The whole "sameness" thing has definitely affected human life because now the community can't enjoy the beautiful experiences like snow or summer or even sunshine. Also their life has almost no room for mistakes so they definitely have a different and not-so-great life. They are missing out on a lot of things. I think it is unfair that only one person gets the memories but I can see why the people who run the community would want that so certain people who might be bad don't get the memory of war and use it in an evil way. - Emma :3
ReplyDeleteI think it is unfair that they all just black and white. Also, if know one has any memories, know one can revolt by not having them in there community. There are missing out on all the real recreation, like sledding, things in the sunshine, etc. Speaking of the sunshine, I have a theory that the Sameness is a dome filled with all the necessities need to live and when your released, you leave that dome of safeness.
