  1. I flagged a couple passages I chapter 18. One of the passages I flagged was when Melody was at Mrs. V's house and was watching Penny dance, jump, and run around while singing at the top of her lungs. Melody said she was getting on her nerves and should just shut up. I can relate to this because I also have a younger sister who is very loud and obnoxious sometimes. I think as this was happening and Melody was telling herself that she wished Penny would just stop once in a while that she may not have noticed but she was getting jealous of Penny's abilities to walk and talk while Melody herself couldn't do either of those things. Although that was not like Melody. So maybe it was because she wasn't' having the greatest day at all. We all have these days; I know I do because of my sister Becca.

  2. In chapter 18, I was reading and I found a note worthy passage. We all have people in our life that effect us deeply, in this case Mrs. V effects Melody. In class we talked about how on the other half of Melody is effected and devoted to Mrs. V, the other half is her parents. Melody has been to and heard from doctors, nurses, friends, and maybe even parents the deadly word " CAN'T" that word gives me the shivers. In my whole 11 years of living (WOW!!) I have always been told that can't is not in our dictionary, that we should never pay attention to what we can't do. However, Melody has been told the word, CAN'T, ( deadly) so much that she has adapted to not being able to do things we can. Mrs. V is the person that had complete faith in Melody. When Melody examines how easily Penny can move, walk, sing, dance, she becomes envious. Mrs. V, however, won't except that she believes that Melody and Penny are no different. Also when she got a call from Catherine that didn't should great, she WAS told that Melody got the highest score for the quiz, but that was almost to good to believe so Catherine was told that and so she called Mrs. V. Melody tried to make Mrs. V feel sorry for her but that didn't work, Melody was sad that everyone laughed at her, but Mrs. V just asked, " Did Catherine help you in a way- even a little bit?"
    Melody replied, " No "
    " Then let's get started"
Mrs. V won't let things like that get to her! I predict that Melody will grow to be strong with the help of Mrs. V at her side!!
