Chapter 18 - We learn about Rosemary.
Why do you think the Giver finally tell Jonas about Rosemary? Describe Rosemary's relationship with the Giver. What memories does he
give her, and how does she react to them? What is her final decision and
why?
i think the giver finally told jonas about Rosemary because this is possibly the last time jonas will see the giver. So we know that rosemary was released, which means she is dead. But if the giver said he is going to visit her.that means one of two things, the giver will die,or he will visit her in a memory
The giver was Rosemary's father. He told Jonas this because he wanted him to know why he loved her so much and how she was so close to him. The giver gave Rosemary happy memories at first as he did with Jonas but, eventually she had to experience the bad ones. like warfare, plague, hunger, and guns. eventually she couldn't take any more of those terrifying memories so she applied for release.-A-town
I think the giver finally told Jonas about Rosemary because Jonas had the right to ask questions, being the Receiver. The giver gave her memories of loneliness and loss, and she ended up not being able to endure the pain. Her final decision was to apply for release because she was becoming much more sad and depressed from the memories. The Giver told Jonas that "everything had changed" after she knew about pain.
The Giver was Rosemary's father which deepened The Giver's love for her. However, since The Giver gave Rosemary some memories that were too much to bear (poverty, loneliness, etc.) Rosemary applied for release, which means death.
