I think that the girl maybe couldn't handle the responsibility of being the Receiver. I think that she wasn't ready and as mature as Jonas when it came to handling war, and pain. Even though as the Receiver you get to understand what the real world is like and understand colors, and shapes, I don't know if I'd be that psyched to get the job.
The girl probably couldn't handle the loneliness, separation, and the responsibility of having to keep the great things like color to herself and having to experience things like war and hunger. I would say separation because knowing all of that while the people around you know nothing that you know sets up something like an invisible wall. The girl on one side, everybody else on the other. -Andrew
I agree with Andrew. The girl probably couldnt have kept everything to herself, and just couldnt handle the pain either. So she just wanted to let it go -Hayden
I agree. I think that it was almost good though that the giver learned from that and now he knows that he should give good and bad memories evenly so Jonas doesn't have to be piled up with so much pain. i also think that like everyone said she really wasn't ready to have like literaly the weight of the worlds past on her shoulders and she just didnt know hot to deal with it.
