  1. In chapter 14 Rose gets a fancy lime green laptop. When Melody sees it she tells Catherine she wants one that is "Melody-made." Later in the book do you think she is going to get a "Melody-made" device? If so what will it enable her to do? Will she be able to talk?

    1. I think she is going to get her "Melody-made" computer/device. It would hjave keys let let her type with her thumbs because her thumbs are the only body parts that work. Also, she will be able to put all the words and pictures in the computer that she learned in her 11 years. Yes, she will be able to talk. She could change her settings of the voice like Siri. She could make it a girl's voucher a boy's voice. Or she could change the language.

  2. What do you think inspired Melody to choose Stephen Hawking to do her report on? What impact does Stephen have on Melody?

    1. I thunk what inspired Melody to choose Steven Hawking was that she wanted to know what normal people do. I think Steven Hawking had an impact on Melody because he himself couldn't walk like Melody, but he did amazing things in science even though he couldn't walk.

    2. I think Melody chose to do her report on Stephen Hawking, because she looks up to him as an idol. And, she might just be a tad jealous. Melody mentioned earlier in the book that she wanted to be like him, because he has a similar condition to her, and he's really smart, and everyone knows it. However, Melody is really smart, but up until chapter 15, no one knew it except her parents.

Melody wishes she had the same technology that Steven Hawking has, such as the super computer hooked up to him that makes it so that his thoughts can be said aloud by a computer voice. Melody and Mr. Hawking have a lot in common, but Melody is just a lot more misunderstood.

Melody also might have wanted to do it to learn more about conditions like hers, so that she could possibly find solutions to her problems.

  3. I agree with Ella that she is going to get her own "melody made" computer. this will allow her to talk by having someone programed on the device do it for her. She will also have an app that will have all of her words stored in it so that all she has to do is click on them with her thumbs, she can also type (with easy access of her thumbs) any other words she might want to say. In addition, it would have a whole school curriculum on it that is her level and she will be allowed to take tests and learn all subjects (math, science, history and, ELA) like all the other "normal kids".
