Because of her disease, Melody has never been able to speak. She got a new device called the Medi-Talker, and now she can talk through the machine whenever she wants. How do you think it would feel if you were in that situation and you could finally let out words? And why?
ReplyDeleteIf I was in Melody's situation, I would be so overwhelmed with a great mix of emotions. First of all ,I would be proud of myself for making my parents so happy that they cry. Also, I myself would have cried because having a Medi-Talker would open a lot of new doors. I would actually be able to communicate! Next, I would be excited to be able to tell the world what I think when I think it. If I had to hold my thoughts in that long, I would probably explode (in Melody's case, she has her tornado explosions). Finally, I would feel connected. I would feel like I know what is going on in the world around me and I can express my opinion. If I could let out the words that I had been holding in for 11 years, I would especially be overjoyed.
DeleteIf I wasn't able to talk like Melody I would get annoyed. When I would find out what the Medi-talker was I would be so happy like Melody and I would scream with excitement. Once I get the Medi-Talker I would want to say all the things that my parents wouldn't understand when I couldn't talk and say what Melody said to her parents "I love you". I would Be so happy and excited and I would finally be able to share my thoughts. Also I would be able to connect with my teachers and my friends. All of those thought from 11 years would finally be expressed.
DeleteSo when Melody showed Rose her new Medi-Talker, she asked Rose if they were friends. Why would she do that? Don't you think they already were?

Put yourself in Melodys shoes, After she gets the Medi-Talker and brings it to school and claire says that's a funny looking computer but I guess its perfect for you would youdo what Melody did and stay calm or would you get mad and do or say something back?
DeleteI think that Melody asked Rose if they were still friends, because when they went to the aquarium Clair and Molly saw them and started saying mean things to Melody. there was a really intrusive conversation and Molly asked Rose if she was there with her parents and she obviously wasn't and she also asked why she was their with Melody and Rose replied with, "It's not so bad." I think that this got Melody sort of upset at the moment, but when Melody saw Rose again at school she wanted to make sure that they were still friends. Also, If I were Melody, I would do the same thing because I would not want her to go back to Clair and Molly and forget all about her. She is Melody's only friend that is her age. I would want to try to keep my friends close to me especially when there are kids like Molly and Clair.
DeleteMelody probably doubted Rose's commitment after the aquarium. She could now voice her doubts so that's what she did. I feel Rose acting inappropriately at the aquarium, I mean Rose should have stood up for Melody. I think Rose and Melody were already friends but Melody seems to think Rose may not exactly hang around her just because she likes Melody. In my opinion, I feel Rose might be only hanging around Melody because Rose feels sorry for her, not that she actually likes her. Melody probably still wants to be friends with her since she is her only "real" friend her age.
