Who is the documentary about that Mrs. V and Melody watched in chapter 6? What's his connection to the Ice Bucket Challenge from last summer?
Do a little research. How is this person similar to Melody? Different? Why do you think he inspires Melody and Mrs. V to re-do Melody's communication board?
The Documentary that Melody and Mrs. V watched was about Stephen Hawking who has ALS and is a very smart human being. The connection to the ice bucket challenge was that Steven and the people who started the ice bucket challenge are both faced with the problem of having ALS and it affects their everyday lives. He is similar to Melody because they both are amazingly smart and talented people who have "special needs". I think Steven Hawking inspires Mrs.V to re-do Melody's communication board because it makes her realize that Melody needs some way to let her intelligence shine through in that body of hers that doesn't work properly. I think Mrs. V wants Melody to have a way to show who she really is on the inside and not be judged by the fact that she is in a wheel chair, she can't walk, and that she can't control her body very well.
