  1. Melody said the words,"I love you" to her parents. If you were Melody, would you say that, or say something else? Do you think this Medi- Talker will affect her relationship with anyone? Who? What do you think she will say to Rose?
If you were Melody, what possibilities are you imagining that comes from the Medi-Talker? Use details to support your answer.

    1. If I were Melody I would say things like about how I have felt my whole life and yes, I also would have told my parents how much i love them. I also think that it will affect the relationship with others because Melody can finally get what she wants out instead of using her plastic board. I think it will affect the relationship with her and her family, Rose, and the people who make fun of Melody for being disabled. What I think she might say to Rose is how thankful she is for Rose and understanding how she can be sometimes with her disabilities. If I had the Media-talker I would stand up to Claire or Molly and make them understand how I would feel about them bullying us (The kids with disabilities and Rose).

    2. I would say " I love you" because I would have never been able to tell my parents that. Also, I would be dying to say that all my life. I think the Medi-Talker will affect her relationships with people. I think the Medi-Talker would affect the relationship with her parents, Mrs. V, Rose, and Cathrine. I think Melody will say hi to Rose. I think she would say that because Melody was never able to say it. She just pointed to it.

    3. If I were Melody I would say the same thing to my parents when I got the Medi-Talker. I think that with having the Medi-Talker Melody will lose the special connection she had with her mom, where she knew what she needed, because she can now tell her mom what she needs or wants. Although she may loose this connection I agree with Makenna that her relationship with Rose will become stronger because I know from personal experience that it is nice to be able to talk to your friends. If I were Melody and I came to school with the Medi-Talker and went to talk to Rose I would thank her for not treating me like trash when the inclusion classes first started. I would also ask her why she said "It's not that bad" when they were at the aquarium.

The Medi-Talker is Melody's perspective was the best thing that had ever happened to her and it would be for me too. I would imagine that it would know what I wanted to say, when I wanted to say it, and who I wanted to be talking to. I would change one thing about the Medi-Talker though because it still doesn't get Melody's point across as fast as she may like it to. Stephen Hawking's machine that he uses connects to his head so he doesn't have type in what he wants to say.

  2. If you were in the condition Melody is in and you had the choice to have a Medi-Talker, and you know this machine would change your life forever, would you get one? Why?
If you could design a machine, any machine that could help you, describe what you would invent and why you would need it?

    1. If I were in Melody's condition and I had the choice to have a Medi-Talker I would definitely get one. I would get a Medi-Talker because it would help me get my point across faster and easier. I could also tell the answers in school and have fun with Rose and her other friends. I would invent a machine with the capability of Melody's, being abler to talk for her, and if you are in her situation it would be a suit that could help her move instead of her wheelchair. Personally I don't think I would need a machine to do things for me because I am capable of doing the things a machine would do for me. Although I am capable if I weren't I would want a machine like the one I described.

    2. If I were in Melody's shoes I would without a doubt get a Media-Talker. this would enable me to say what is on my mind. If this problem were solved I would be able to make it clear to my family what I want or what I am referring to. In addition, (if i was a genius like melody:) I would FINALLY be able to escape room H5 and show everybody that I was a "normal kid" plus extra smart and could probably be a few grades ahead. Socially, this would also help me make new friends and become even closer to Rose. if i were to build a machine for myself, it would probably be similar to the Media-Talker. i think this machine is amazing and supplies all of a kids basic needs. I might even add my own personal feature, a tennis playing arm that can shoot balls at you to hit.

  3. If I was Melody and I had a choice to get a Medi-Talker I would get one. I would get a Medi-Talker because I would be able to participate in class and say what I want to say. Also people will finally see what is up in my brain and what I have collected along the way. Also I would be able to socialize with more kids. The Medi-Talker really would do the job and is good in my opinion. If I had a choice to build a machine to help me with my needs I would want it to help me walk if i couldn't. If I wasn't able to talk I would want something like the Medi-Talker. Even though I am capable with everything that is what I would want to invent to help me get along.

  4. If I were Melody, I would definitely get a Medi-Talker. It would help me talk to everyone and it would be an easier way to tell people what I want and how I feel. For example, Melody could have told her dad that she wanted a happy meal from McDonald's if she had the Medi-Talker earlier. Also, I could tell Rose things that I never was able to say, like how Melody asked her if they wanted to be friends. This Medi-Talker will help me tell the answers that are asked in school. It would have helped Melody tell the vocabulary definitions to her group of classmates that she couldn't tell her group earlier in the book.

I would invent a machine similar to Melody's Medi-Talker if I was Melody because I could definitely not keep every answer to a school question and everything else I want to say in my head, not being able to tell anybody. I would need to talk somehow! This was a great machine that improved Melody's life SO much!! I wouldn't be able to explain how excited I would be if I were Melody.

  5. Melody has a life changing experience when she receives the Medi-talker. Have you ever experienced one of these moments in your life? And, do you think this will have a good or bad impact on Melody's life?

    1. No I have not had a life changing experience. But Ithink that th Medi-Talker will have a mixed effect because I think that it will help her comunicate but I think that it could get her in some trouble by her saying the wrong thing to the wrong person and get her in serious trouble.

  6. No, I have not experienced a similar moment in my life like Melody did. I think that the Medi-Talker will be good for her in a way but also bad. I think it will be good because she can now communicate with friends and family like she's never been able to before. I think it might be bad, though, because now all the kids in her class, including Molly and Claire, might think her using the Medi-Talker is cheating, so they could pick on her for it.
